CommonLook’s CTO, Ferass ElRayes, has specialized in the development of accessibility technology since the late 1990s. Representing Canada at meetings of ISO TC 171, Mr. ElRayes leads a development team with several first-to-market commercial plugins for Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word. Mr. ElRayes also contributed to the authoring of the PDF/UA standard, including chapters on the processing of complex tables.
Beginning in 2006 with the PDF/A Competence Center, the PDF Association exists to provide software vendors with information and resources on the various International Standards for PDF to help them make the most of their investment in PDF technology. As adopted by the Board in January 2011, the Mission of the PDF Association reads:
