Monir ElRayes is the Founder and President of CommonLook. Monir is an entrepreneur who has organically grown CommonLook, with the other two CommonLook principals (both family members,) from a startup to the world leader in PDF accessibility compliance. Monir’s business philosophy centers on providing extraordinary value to customers and partners, building long term win-win relationships, and valuing the contribution of employees.
Prior to focusing the business on PDF accessibility in 2000, as a software architect, Monir led the software teams responsible for developing national secure document issuance systems for a number of countries.
Monir holds a Master of Engineering degree from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa. He enjoys chess, travel and exploration.

Ferass is in charge of CommonLook’s product research and development with overall responsibility for the specification, architecture and development of CommonLook’s market leading products. Ferass represents Canada at ISO TC 171 meetings on the ISO 14289 (PDF/UA), ISO 32000 (PDF) and ISO 19005 (PDF/A) Committees and is the Chair of the Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) on TC 171 SC2. Ferass holds a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Carleton University specializing in the performance analysis of distributed systems.

Asham is in charge of CommonLook’s remediation team with overall responsibility for the delivery and quality of millions of pages remediated annually to conform with a variety of accessibility standards. In addition to his remediation responsibilities, Asham has contributed heavily to the design and development of a variety of CommonLook products.
Prior to joining CommonLook, Asham was a developer at Nortel Networks where he received the President’s award for innovation. While at university as a PhD candidate in electronic engineering, Asham participated in publishing numerous papers on performance engineering of software systems.

After completing his BSEE and MBA, Daniel started his career as an engineer and eventually help found and start a high-tech company that was later acquired. He has assisted numerous companies achieve success and public IPO status for over a span of 35 years while living in three different continents and picking up four languages in the process.

Priya joined the CommonLook team in 2020 bringing her prior experience from healthcare and working with individuals with disabilities in higher education. Priya graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from James Madison University where she got her start in the accessibility industry. Through her work with JMU’s Office of Disability Services, she developed an interest in this industry and is excited to bring her experience to CommonLook and learn even more about how we can be a resource to those in need. In her free time, Priya is a huge DC sports fan with a love for travel, live music and all things coffee!

Since 2013, Paul has helped a variety of organizations, including healthcare, government agencies (local, state and federal), financial institutions, and colleges and universities meet their PDF accessibility needs.
In addition to his expertise with the CommonLook suite of tools for testing, creating and remediating PDFs, he is also well versed in accessibility standards including Section 508 (including the “refreshed” standard), Health and Human Services (HHS), WCAG 2.0, WCAG 2.1, and PDF/UA.
Paul is a member of the IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals) and serves on various committees including helping to develop the Accessible Document Specialist certification. In addition, he is a member of the PDF Association and participates in writing the ISO 32000 (PDF) and ISO 14289 (PDF/UA) standards, as well as working with the PDF/UA Competence Center, the PDF/UA Technical Working Group, and serving as co-chair for the Accessibility Service Bureau Working Group. Paul also participates in, and moderates, several online accessibility groups and forums.
Prior to joining the CommonLook team, Paul graduated with a BMe in Instrumental Music Education from Florida State University and taught middle school band for 11 years. In his spare time, he enjoys various outdoor activities and is an avid lacrosse player and geocacher.

Helping clients to get the most out of the CommonLook products, Avery trains individuals on how to make their electronic documents accessible to individuals with various disabilities. His background is in higher education and training and Avery recently earned his Master’s degree in Education and Human Development.
The ability to help others manage and overcome obstacles has drawn Avery to both training and accessibility. He enjoys a bunch of outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. He also loves cooking new foods, traveling and checking out new breweries!

Liz is an enthusiastic individual that enjoys working with clients to ensure they feel confident and successful in using our software programs. Her passion for service and education led her to join the CommonLook team after spending 17 years working in secondary education, as both a teacher and an administrator. While working with a diversity of learners over the years, she has seen firsthand the need for equal access and the importance of ensuring accessibility for all audiences.
At CommonLook, she provides accessibility software training and online training development. She takes pride in working for a company that shares her passion for service and education.

After 27 years of working in the technology sector in technical and senior management positions, Dave has spent the last eight years working in the assistive technology industry. With an extensive background of working in both North American and International markets, Dave has been responsible for developing new territories into a profitable business for our company.
Developing new business requires building advisory and trusting relationships, partnerships with key influencers in our industry and ensuring that CommonLook is recognized as the industry leader. Over the last eight years, Dave has worked with resellers, accessibility organizations and has represented CommonLook with organizations such as the IAAP and W3C to ensure our influence in the industry. Dave earned his CPACC in 2016 from the IAAP. As the Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances, Dave leverages his industry knowledge and experience as well as a background in sales to develop effective campaigns to reach our clients with our solutions for ensuring document accessibility compliance.
Dave finds it rewarding after so many years in the high-tech industry to be able to ensure that the information age that he helped to build is accessible to everyone. It is very gratifying to attend industry trade conferences and meet the people who benefit from our accessibility tools, services and training at CommonLook.

In her career as a creative marketing professional, Susan has worked on campaigns for top companies in a variety of industries. Here are just a few of them: IBM (during their sponsorship of the Olympics), McKesson, CDW, Cingular, Louisiana Pacific and Owens Corning.
Her creative experience includes direction, writing, editing, graphic design and website design/UX. Her specialties are branding and messaging strategies for the technology space.

With a degree in Communications from George Mason University, Sandeep has been in the SaaS environment for the last 10 years leading as a top sales producer and Inside Sales Manager. Eric joined the CommonLook family in December of 2020 as a member of the support and development teams. He has over 8 years of software sales experience and in January 2021 completed a 6-month Full-Stack Developer certification course through George Washington University. He received his undergraduate degree in Management of Information Systems from Clemson University in 2013.
Some of Eric’s duties include aiding the support team with customer issues, resolving technical issues for clients, improving CommonLook’s internal processes and acting as a liaison between our business unit and development team. Primary duties include installation and activation assistance to CommonLook clients. Also deliver purchased products to clients and software demos for clients. Started in CommonLook as a remediator and moved on to learn all software CommonLook distributes. After a year, I applied for the support tech position and have improved license delivery and client support experience.
My main motivation is making sure clients have a positive experience with our products and are able to use the CommonLook Suite of tools to lengthen the reach of accessibility.
A personal hobby of mine is snowboarding. Having fun with friends and enjoying the outdoors creates a very positive environment for me. Riding also helps to keep me fit and strong while improving myself.
